Babysitting

You are babysitting a 7 year old boy. As you walk upstairs to tuck him into bed, you hear a loud bang behind you. You look downstairs to see a man break through the front door, an axe in hand. You quickly run into the boy's room and close the door, calling the police on your cell phone. The police tell you that you should hide since help is on the way, and that no matter what you should not leave the room. However, as you hang up, you realize that the boy left the room. You contemplate going after him, but in fear and selfishness, you hide under the bed to save yourself.
And that's when you hear it.
Thump....
Thump....
Thump......
Hard thumps, going up the stairs. You shake all over, what is that noise?
Thump....
Thump....
Thump...
The thumps are getting louder, closer..
Thump...
Thump...
Thump....
THUMP.
You awake with police surrounding you. They tell you that you passed out but are perfectly fine. They tell you that as they lead you down the stairs, YOU CAN NOT OPEN YOUR EYES.
You start to go down the steps, but curiosity gets the better of you and you open your eyes.
On the stairs lies the corpse of the boy, his arms and legs cut off.
You then realize the thumps were the sounds of his chin hitting the stairs as he used it to pull himself up, desperate for your help.
